Queen Beatrix' Christmas speech this year to focus on trust

Monday 24 December 2012

The theme of queen Beatrix’ Christmas speech this year is ‘trust’, the state information service said on Monday.

As every year, the pre-recorded speech will be broadcast on December 25 at 13.00 hours on television, radio and internet.

It is not clear where Beatrix will spend Christmas this year. Her oldest son Willem-Alexander and his family are in Argentina to celebrate the holiday with princess Máxima’s family.

On Sunday, Beatrix visited the traditional Carré circus in Amsterdam with her other daughters-in-law, Mabel and Laurentien, and their children.

trust you earn, it's not a gift.

the politicians have burned the trust earned in the past and need to start to earn it back. this is achieved by representing the electorate, not big business and vested interests.

they could start with a 50% pay cut (austerity measures, lead by example), avoid use of expenses, and prohibit their employment by or gifts from any organisation other than the electorate they represented during and for 5 years after their stint in government.

they should be their because they love to serve, not to gouge the public purse.
