Princess Mabel returns to public duties
Wednesday 12 December 2012
Princess Mabel will on Wednesday make her first public appearance since her husband Friso was hit by an avalanche during a royal family skiing trip last year.
Mabel will join queen Beatrix, her sons Willem-Alexander and Constantijn and their respective wives Máxima and Laurentien at the presentation of the Prince Claus Awards.
The prizes are awarded every year to 11 companies or individuals for 'outstanding achievements' in the fields of development and culture.
This year's top prize is being awarded to Argentine publishing company Eloisa Cartonera - a non-profit organisation which makes hand-made books with covers of recycled cardboard, Nos television said.
Friso is in a coma at a hospital in London.
