Postal workers to get 1.7% pay rise

Thursday 06 December 2012

Postal workers' unions and PostNL have agreed a 1.7% pay rise after months of difficult talks. The pay deal will be implemented in two stages and runs until April next year.

Talks on changes to the pension and early retirement scheme are still continuing.

‘Given the changes in the post market and the situation facing PostNL, this is the best we can do,' said Abvakabo union spokeswoman Susan Eijgermans. ‘All workers will have more to spend. That was our demand at the start of the talks and that is what PostNL has agreed to.’

Workers will also get an end-of-year bonus of 2% of their salary.

Actually i was about to write half-page about it,but beter ask:

@Mirror, good decision. Your comments probably wouldn't have been published anyway....

maybe now they won't loose our mail and we'll get better service.Or will postage go up to pay for the increase?

By dee | 6 December 2012 6:48 PM

@mirror - because we do the job most people don't want to regardless of whether its sunny or 5 degrees below zero. I run up about 35 sets of stairs a day to deliver in my area, and have to deliver over 50kg of post within 2 hours. Its not easy, and the pay is crap. Happy to hear we're getting paid closer to what we deserve if only for a while

By Mike | 6 December 2012 7:45 PM

@Mike ,hints: i have a job- and i am doing it.I don't loose bytes ,i "deliver" websites , my clients knows me . If smth's wrong i fix it .There is communication. And pay is good.If it was crap..guess what : another job. No matter how pay is the job must be done.Meantime {insert here complaints about packages and letters}.And really if the job is too difficult let a capable person try....

By Mirror | 7 December 2012 4:08 PM

@Mirror, rather insulting don't you think, considering that you know nothing of Mike's work ethos. Not all people working at post.nl are bad. Were I live we never have problems with post.nl

By pepe | 7 December 2012 4:22 PM

My postie's lovely. If anything's bad, it's Mirror's grammar and spelling :)

By woods | 7 December 2012 4:40 PM

I agree, pepe, If inefficiency is at grass root level, there would have been more chaos! Post jobs are tough by nature, It's obvious that inconviniences we face are systematic rather than professional, Keep up the good work Mike,

By reader | 7 December 2012 5:20 PM

@pepe ,i am not interested in "insulting" , "knowing work ethos" ,"people at xxxx.nl".I just want my mail correctly delivered. That's all.Nothing more, nothing less. I am not even interested if you have/not have problems with yyyy.zz in your area.Really,is that simple .

By Mirror | 7 December 2012 5:49 PM

The internet is a wonderul place where people can be nasty and get away with it. Mirror couldn't hack the early mornings, heavy loads, stair climbs and horrid weather, anymore than he could actually make a sellable website with that level of English grammar.

By osita | 7 December 2012 5:50 PM

Yes, we realize it's all about you, Mirror.

Thanks for reminding me that some people get ahead because of luck and not hard work. Can I remind you that there's more to PostNL besides the frontline workers that take all the crap from people like you?

By CW | 7 December 2012 8:49 PM

Indeed, osita , i refuse 2-3 clients monthly because of my language level , inserting (given) text ctrl+c /ctrl+v generate errors; actually i didn't win this years contest because of this ,2nd place is a shame. And i do not sell wp themes anymore, that level was full with strange people thinking that is inappropriate to expect the service you paid for.And i am not gonna apologize for not accepting "smoesjes" even i apologize to myself for wasting time ( again) trying to learn monkeys basic rules of economy.

By Mirror | 7 December 2012 8:53 PM

Then may I suggest, Mirror, you be careful with your loose bytes, otherwise you will lose them.

By pepe | 8 December 2012 7:21 PM

Great news for postal workers, they are soon to be now just about 2.8% behind inflation! Blame email, blame bad planning, cheers!
