Maarssen baker wins annual oliebollen test

Thursday 27 December 2012

Baker Willy Olink from Maarssen, south of Amsterdam, makes the Netherlands’ best oliebollen (Dutch donuts eaten at New Year), according to the annual AD survey.

Tasters awarded Olink’s oliebollen 10 out of 10, saying they ‘taste great’, are ‘naturally sweet’, with a ‘nice crisp crust’.

The baker told the paper the news is as good as winning the national lottery. He expects to sell 100,000 of the deep-fried dough balls in the run up to December 31.

Hi,
Maarssen baker wins annual oliebollen test. You enlighten me. I noticed these stands selling oliebollen. I thought they were for throwing at coco-nuts.
