Dutch squad was 'not fit enough' during European football event
Wednesday 19 December 2012
The Dutch national football team, which crashed out of this year’s European Championships without winning a single game, was ‘not fit enough’, according to a football association evaluation.
‘What scientific research has shown us is that the players could have been fitter,’ the KNVB's professional football director Bert van Oosteveen says in an interview with magazine Voetbal International. ‘This is confirmation of what I suspected. The players were not fit.’
Oranje, one of the finalists in the South African World Cup, had been a favourite to win the European title.

It was arrogance and lack of team work that did it.They walked into this bragging and left with the tail between the legs.

By Z | 19 December 2012 12:46 PMNo wonder they were not fit while collecting a lot of air miles during the tournament. Six flights between the matches, how crazy can you be?
By Jaap J.M. Vos | 19 December 2012 4:29 PMLack of national pride as well as too many oliebollen and appelflappen.
By Ed Rypkema | 19 December 2012 6:53 PMIt took SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH to come to this conclusion?!? Between this story and the Rudolph's nose story, no wonder I couldn't find a job as a scientist in NL - I want to do LEGITIMATE research!!
