Attack on football linesman was photographed (update)Thursday 06 December 2012 The attack on an amateur football linesman who died after being kicked and punched by three teenagers, was captured on photographs, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday. The photos were made by the sister of the goalkeeper of the Buitenboys team, who was celebrating his 300th match with the club. The linesman was beaten up by players from the opposing team, Nieuw Sloten in Amsterdam. The three boys, aged 15, 15, and 16, were on Thursday remanded in custody for a further two weeks. They are facing charges of manslaughter and public violence. Shock The death of Richard Nieuwenhuizen, who died in hospital a day after the attack, has shocked the Netherlands and the football world in general. All amateur games in the Netherlands have been cancelled this weekend. And world football body Fifa has agreed that the opening of the World Cup for club teams in Japan will also involve a one minute’s silence for the dead man. © DutchNews.nl Readers' Comments |
