Ajax moves down to Europa League

Amsterdam football club Ajax will play in the Europa League after the winter break despite losing 4-1 to Real Madrid in their final Group D game of the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City left the English league champions with just three points in the competition. Ajax, on four, is in third place, and wins the group’s Champions League berth.

Ajax is the only Dutch club to remain in European competition this season.
