Thursday 01 November 2012
Supermarkets sell an average of 141 different organic products, up 22% on a year ago, according to environmental group Milieudefensie’s latest calculations.
Supermarket group Plus tops the list with 356 organic products on offer, an increase of 100 on a year ago. Plus also has most fair trade products – 102 – compared with other supermarkets, which have an average of 35.
Milieudefensie carries out an organic food audit every year. When it first started in 1998, fruit and vegetables were the only items counted and there were just organic products.
