Police shoot dead 17-year-old on railway station

Police shot dead a 17-year-old youth on a platform at the Hollands Spoor railway station on Saturday morning.

The police were called after reports that a man had been threatened by the youth, who may have had a gun. The circumstances of the shooting are still unclear, including whether or not the youth was actually armed.

The youth died in hospital of his injuries. Friends of the boy are to hold a silent march to protest at the shooting on Sunday evening.
