It is a shame the rest of the restaurants in The Netherlands are so awful and over priced with appalling service

What about The Five Flies in Amsterdam?

Actually, Pamela, the only way a country can get Michelin star restaurants, is by having a great pool of decent restaurants. The fact that the number of restaurants with a Bib Gourmand is also rising, shows you that the people from Michelin have a different opinion about Dutch restaurants.

I'm afraid I have to agree that most, certainly not all, restaurants in The Netherlands have a poor price/quality ratio. What's more, the attractiveness of the restaurant is often more important than the quality of the food and, yes, the service can be bad. Having said that, I've had some good experiences. Recently went to Nevy in Amsterdam and thought it was worth the money. The staff were professional as well and seemed to like their jobs.
