New cabinet cleans up pending legislation list, drops 14 draft laws

The new government has ditched 14 pieces of draft legislation drawn up by the previous administration, the Volkskrant reported on Tuesday.

The big clean up includes an end to plans to increase court fees, force judges to impose minimum sentences and reduce the number of MPs and senators.
The new cabinet has also formally ditched plans to make people renounce their original nationality when they become Dutch and to require all new Dutch nationals to earn at least the minimum wage and show they have at least two years’ work experience.
