Medical implant register to be set up
Tuesday 20 November 2012
The health ministry is to set up a new register with details of everyone with some form of medical implant, be it a new hip or breast implants.
The current registration system is incomplete and unclear, making a new register vital, health minister Edith Schippers said.
The register will also include complications associated with implants and suppliers, producers and insurance companies will be required by law to supply the information.
Patient organisations have urged the minister to ensure patient privacy is paramount.
A wise move? Have your say in the comment box below.

it's a good idea from our Health Minister, esp. information about complications associated with implants .

By Drawer 22 | 20 November 2012 4:45 PMIf The health ministry is going to set up new register, why bother asking our opinion? I think in light that there are a lot of problems it is a wise thing to do and it might just give job's to somebody.
