Enviroment ministry tells staff to work at home

The infrastructure and environment ministry is taking steps to discourage 13,000 civil servants from driving to work, Nos television reports on Thursday.

Civil servants are to be encouraged to work at home, because there is not enough office space to accommodate all of them at the new ministry building in the centre of The Hague, Nos says. Those who do come by car will have to pay for parking.
Some 25% of the ministry’s fleet of 1,000 cars will be replaced by electric vehicles and its ships will also be made more energy friendly.
The ministry hopes the measures will help reduce its CO2 emissions by 28.2% by 2016.
Is this the way to cut CO2 emissions? Have your say using the comment box below.
