A 33-year-old man who sent a threatening email to the Christian Democratic party’s website, directed at finance minister Jan Kees de Jager, has been give 40 hours community service and a two-week suspended jail term.
Hilbert Jan B, from Diever in Drenthe, wrote in the email: ‘I have a bullet for nutcase De Jager, the dirty homo has had it.’
The court said B would normally have been give a fine because he has no previous convictions. However, the more severe sentence is a signal that this is unacceptable, the court said.
B told the court he disagreed with De Jager’s position on the Greek debt.
