Saving for your healthcare could save you money

It can be better to save separately for any extra healthcare costs over and above the basic insurance package, Arné van den Boom, director of insurer Interpolis, told the Algemeen Dagblad in an interview on Monday.

Consumers should check their extra healthcare and dental policies carefully, Van den Boom said. They may well find it is cheaper to cancel these policies and start a savings account for additional healthcare.
Van den Boom pointed to dental policies where major treatment needs an extra payment from the consumer because most policies pay only between €250 and €500.
Some 88% of people have a top-up health insurance policy but many are not aware what they cover, according to health council figures
