Police arrest 39 football fans around Ajax-Man City match

Amsterdam police arrested 39 football fans, mostly Dutch nationals, following trouble before Wednesday night's Champions League tie between Ajax and Manchester City.
Most arrests were made in Amsterdam city centre before the match after riot police were brought in There were several skirmishes between the different supports groups and they were throwing bottles and cans at each other across the canals, news agency ANP said.
Thirteen suspects were processed through the fast-track legal system on Wednesday night and given fines of between €350 and €500. The rest will be heard in court later.
There was little trouble after the game, which Ajax won 3-1.
