Jos Stelling's new film Het Meisje en de Dood (the girl and death) is winner of the best film Gouden Kalf at this year's Dutch film festival.

The film tells the story of a Russian doctor who returns to an abandoned hotel where he once met the love of his life. The film also won best sound and best camera work.

Hannah Hoekstra won the Gouden Kalf for best actress for her role in Hemel (heaven), while Reinout Scholten van Ashat took the men's award for the kidnapper in De Heineken Ontvoering, based on the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken.

The public prize, which gathered the most text message votes, went to Achtse Groepers Huilen Niet (eight graders don't cry).
