Italian president arrives for visit

President Giorgio Napoletano of Italy and his wife arrived in the Netherlands on Tuesday for a three-day state visit.


The couple was greeted at Noordeinde palace wherer they are staying by queen Beatrix, who will host a state banquet for the 87-year-old president on Tuesday evening.
On Wednesday there will be a short visit to Estec in Noordwijk where astronaut André Kuipers will show Napoletano and the queen around the European space organisation ESA. Also on hand will be Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano.
Other events will take place in The Hague to take into account the fragile health of the president.
