Hurricane Sandy affects Dutch weather

Tuesday 30 October 2012

Weather centre KNMI said on Tuesday the weather over the Netherlands will be affected by hurricane Sandy, which is currently raging across the north-east coast of the US.

Because Sandy is tracking north-east towards Canada, cold air from the North Pole is streaming towards the Atlantic Ocean. 'This will bring changeable weather to the Netherlands with a lot of cloud and rain,' a KNMI spokesman said.

Sandy has brought most of the US north-east coast to a halt, including New York.

Flights from the Netherlands to the east coast of the US have also been disrupted with KLM and Delta cancelling dozens of services.
