Celeb lawyer Bram Moszkowicz banned from practising law for lifeTuesday 30 October 2012 The Netherlands’ most famous lawyer, Bram Moszkowicz, has had his right to practice law removed for bringing the profession into disrepute. The legal profession’s disciplinary council took the decision to disbar Moszkowicz on Tuesday. According to media reports, the council said the lawyer had not taken complaints about his performance seriously and had regularly accepted large amounts of cash from clients without informing the authorities. Moszkowicz, who on Monday reached a deal with the tax office over unpaid taxes, also faces a disciplinary hearing over his behaviour during the trial of MP Geert Wilders on hatred and discrimination charges. The celebrity lawyer is accused of insulting the court during the trial. Appeal According to the Telegraaf, Moszkowicz, who was not at the verdict, is planning to appeal against his suspension. Moszkowicz is a celebrity in the Netherlands. As well as taking on high-profile legal cases, he appears regularly on television chat shows and has appeared in a humorous television advert for an insurance company. The Telegraaf also said on Tuesday the lawyer had separated from his television presenter girlfriend Eva Jinek. © DutchNews.nl Readers' Comments |

This is guy is pathetic. It is good to see someone who thinks they are above laws and consequences being punished publicly by the very legal system they chose to ignore. An egotistical self-interested grossly overpaid loser = Moszkowicz. I sure hope the Dutch media and public don't glorify him now and make him a 'criminal star' like Holeeder. That would be more pathetic than all the things Moszkowicz has done all put together!
By Z | 30 October 2012 9:57 AMAn absolutely disgraceful decision. The best lawyer in Holland disbanded due to sad jealousy. I hope he gets his license back and sues the pants of the people who set this up.
By Harry Monk | 30 October 2012 10:50 AMGuess he'll be needing someone who specialises in overturning Karma.
By Dr Ponzi | 30 October 2012 2:13 PMwho?
By GS | 30 October 2012 3:54 PMHe defended the wrong people and made those, who consider themselves to be, the right people look like idiots. I expect he will now be briefing some young up and coming lawyer about an appeal and oh what a briefing that will be.
By Jack | 30 October 2012 4:04 PM@Z - what a ridiculous comparisons you are making.
Hihgly political decision we are seeing here. BUT, he may down but he is not defeated yet. My prediction is that there will some changes in the legal profession’s disciplinary council soon. Mark my words, he has put some judges on early retirement before.
By Richie | 30 October 2012 5:05 PMIs it just me, or does it feel like the end of an era?
Harry Monk...please channel your chronic anger into something more constructive...and let me enjoy the moment...
By CW | 30 October 2012 6:26 PMBram is a brilliant lawyer, no less and I believe that there has been a Witch Hunt aimed at him, especially since his victory for Geert Wilders. Whatever happens, he'll thrive at anything he does in the future. You can't keep a man like him from success
By Deb | 31 October 2012 2:04 AMGood to see that there is no longer a place in the court system for self-congratulatory, self-promotion and wannabe-celebrities.
Now if we can only have the same result in politics......
Good decision
By DC | 31 October 2012 2:14 AMHi,
By Terence Hale | 31 October 2012 3:55 AMCeleb lawyer Bram Moszkowicz banned from practising law for life; I’ve noticed, the Dutch apart from consuming cheese and eggs and producing tulips have a drink advocaat, a drink made from crushed lawyers.
1th He is sentenced by a few colleques and just one judge; 2th the complaining clients might be of rivalry gangs of Moszkowicz clients. It is disproportional!
By Karin Post | 31 October 2012 3:56 AMThe fact that Wilders has spoken up for him says it all. I'm glad to see good values and clean business being justly represented here in NL. I hope he gets what he deserves.
