Weekend football: PSV thrash AZ, Ajax draws against Heerenveen

PSV Eindhoven thrashed AZ of Alkmaar 5-1 in their first meeting of the new football season. AZ were down to 10 men after eight minutes following a red card for Etienne Reijnen.

Current league leader FC Twente managed to keep up their unbeaten record by defeating VVV 1-0 with an injury time goal.

Amsterdam’s Ajax and Heerenveen drew 2-2 with Alfred Finnbogason scoring both goals for the Friesian team. Thulani Serero scored both Ajax goals but was sent off in the 53rd minute.
