Prince Friso, seven months in a coma, is 44 today

Prince Friso, who has been in a coma for seven months following a skiing accident, is 44 today. The state information service RVD would not give details about any visitors on his birthday.

Queen Beatrix' second son is being cared for in the specialist Wellington hospital in London. He has severe brain damage after spending at least 25 minutes under snow after being hit by an avalanche in the Austrian resort of Lech in February.

In early March, he was flown by air ambulance to London, where he lives with his wife Mabel and two daughters.
