At least one in three Dutch entrepreneurs back the 'neuro'

Monday 03 September 2012

At least one in three Dutch entrepreneurs think the eurozone should be restricted to northern countries, according to two new research projects.

Just over half Dutch entrepreneurs back continuing with the euro in its present form, according to a survey of 500 company bosses by business website Z24.

Almost 30% opt for the neuro option - they would like to continue with the euro but restrict the eurozone to northern countries only. The rest would like to leave the eurozone with or without Germany, the poll shows.

Other research by the Panteia bureau published on Monday concluded 38% of entrepreneurs would like the eurozone to be smaller while one in 10 would like to step out of the single currency system.

The Z24 poll also showed Mark Rutte, leader of the right-wing VVD, is by far the most popular choice as prime minister under entrepreneurs. Second on the list is Hans Wijers, former CEO of Akzo Nobel and a prominent D66 supporter.

The VVD has the support of nearly 53% of the company bosses who took part. D66 is second on 10% and the anti-European PVV third with 8% support.

Of course, looks normal but only with one condition: your products/services products should be sold ONLY in that northern area.
What did you say? ah,of course ,you cannot ignore such a huge market but you cannot accept that.....so typical...

The eurozone should not exist at all. It appears that it is not possible to make a single sensible monetary policy to encompass multiple countries of different economy types.

"Neuro!", is that short for neurotic?

It would be lunacy to disband the euro zone. It would be a step back. If anything it should be reenforced with stronger fiscal union and infrastructure, a EU type constitution that has real meaning. Monetary union alone was never going to be enough.

We should encourage and help Greece to leave the euro zone in a way that would be beneficial to both. Greece will only continue to struggle if they stay in the euro. Perhaps later, in about 15 years or so, they can apply again.

Appalling, of course Neoliberalism is the name of the Mcguffin in the past years of Dutch politics and economics...
And most of them frrm recent polls would vote for the VVD, so more blindness than forward looking :)

The Neuro dream shares the same dogma as the Euro..
I gather that this latest concoction is another way of declaring the euro a failure.

Just ask yourselves what this latest guesswork is, a currency to be used only by countries worth milking?

It's not so much the currency causing the problems of Europe, more like an attempt for global dominance by joining European member states together that were sold out by their unqualified elected leaders.

So long that tribalism remains strong, there will never be just one language, one currency or just one government: in doubt? - try a referendum!!

@The Eurisitor: admitting I am not an expert in the field and I don't take a side in this dispute: I think your statement "The Neuro dream shares the same dogma as the Euro" is wrong. The "Neuro" would put together countries far more similar in economic development. The problem with e.g. Greece was that they suddenly could borrow at lower interest rates that with the Dracma. This was based on the levels of northern countries. Hence Greece (and others) borrowed far more that the country could afford and went on a spending spree. This would not happen with the "Neuro" as all northern countries have always had similar level of borrowing costs and similar economic development.

1) Establish the Neuro. 2) Speculation drives the Neuro up with respect to Southern European currencies. 3) Imports from Northern Europe become very expensive. 4) As a result, manufacturing increases in Southern Europe and decreases in Northern Europe, causing a trade deficit with the South. 5) Northern European countries call for a new, unified currency, "The Euro," to normalize trade between EU countries... wash, rinse, repeat.

@the_expat: I fully comprehend the idea behind the neuro. This idea is marvelous for the banksters, but how do you think it will effect the ordinary family? You have to guess at least 10 years into the future!

At the moment it is continual borrowing from bank A to pay back B that borrows from C that owes to D that bla bla, the big boys have lost, but will not concede, sod them, enough debt!!

RC - you are right on. How come no one else sees this?
