Home owners call for action on housing market

The next government must take action to ensure a string of planned new initiatives do not further damage the housing market, says home owners’ association VEH.

The VEH has written to the team in charge of putting together a new Labour-Liberal alliance calling for intervention. ‘The mountain of new measures threatens to drive the housing market into the ground next year,’ the organisation says.
The VEH is referring to mortgage and other reforms which are included in the outgoing government’s 2013 spending plans.
The VEH would also like to see more competition in the mortgage market and more help for first-time buyers and freelancers, the NRC reports.
It is traditional during a coalition-building process that lobby groups make their demands on the next government clear.
