Finance minister will return to industry if CDA not in new cabinet
Friday 28 September 2012
Finance minister Jan Kees de Jager told Nos television on Friday he will return to the corporate world if the next cabinet does not include the Christian Democrats.
Speaking after Friday's cabinet meeting, De Jager said it now appeared the CDA would not continue in government, making a return to industry the obvious choice.
De Jager was not included on the list of CDA parliamentarians at his own request. He has been finance minister since 2010 and was junior finance minister in the previous administration.
The right-wing VVD and Labour party (PvdA) are currently negotiating to form a new cabinet. Some party members have suggested De Jager be asked to stay in the job because of the experience and contacts he has built up.
Has de Jager been a good finance minister? Have your say using the comment box below.
