Election: British prime minister backs VVD and ChristenUnie?Monday 10 September 2012 Britain's prime minister David Cameron appears to have given an endorsement in the general election to Arie Slob, leader of the small Christian party ChristenUnie. ChristenUnie's website states that the party is part of the ECR alliance in the European parliament with Britain's Conservative Party, but does not explain how Cameron came to make the statement. 'My party works hand in hand with the ChristianUnion in the European Parliament to achieve a more efficient, less interfering Europe that is committed to peace, security and trade,' Cameron's statement reads. 'Arie Slob has shown a real determination to play a key part in leading the Netherlands through the present crisis. Like him, I want a strong society in which families, associations and faith communities can show what people can achieve together when they work together to build a better country. He has a great contribution to make.' Conservatives The NRC points out that last month Cameron made a speech in which he praised Mark Rutte, leader of the right-wing Liberal VVD. 'At a time when the Netherlands is making important choices about the future, I would just like to say a few words about your leader,' Cameron says. As prime ministers 'we work together closely on many issues', he continues, before going on to list three things which make Rutte stand out. 'First he is a man who gets things done,' Cameron says. 'He is completely focused on getting government to do what the people need it to do.' The British prime minister also praises Rutte's role in the European debate and ends by wishing Rutte 'and everyone in your party the best of luck'.

Can Mr. Cameron name a few of the things Rutte got done? When Rutte got in power he claimed that all right wingers in the Netherlands would be licking their fingers because of the things they had in mind for us. Never mind the fact that almost half of the voters didn't vote for any of the parties. Polarization in this country has never been so big, and we can only blame Rutte for that.

By Robert Wilkinson | 10 September 2012 6:04 PMCameron & Rutte are on a par with each other.. A majority of the Brits are as fed up with Cameron as the Dutch are with Rutte, selfishness & stupidity will hopefully not prevail.
