Olympics: Gold for Kromowidjojo

Friday 03 August 2012

Swimmer Ranomi Kromowidjojo won the gold medal in the 100 metre freestyle at the Aquatics Centre in London.

The 21-year-old's time of 53 seconds also set a new Olympic record.

After the race, Kromowidjojo said she did not think her swim was perfect but 'gold is gold'.

Prince Willem-Alexander, who was in the audience with his wife Máxima, congratulated the woman from Groningen, calling her 'queen Kromo'.

On Friday, Kromowidjojo competes in the 50 metre freestyle.

Her win puts the Netherlands in 13th place in the medals table, with two gold, one silver and two bronze.

I enjoy the performances of the Dutch athletes very much. However, the constant opinions in the press from members of the royal family and politicians give me the creeps.

I wish the press would just summarize all their input to: "and the crown prince and the prime minister all think this is all very great." For more useful comments, I'd rather have a bunch of experts inform me. Please don't have princes and politicians do that part, pleeeeeease.

I am prety vexed at not being able to watch the lifestream of the Dutch Olympics site. It says I am not authorized to watch the site due to my geographical location. I am in the U.S.
Not NICE!!! If you have any ideas how to get around this pls let me know.
