FrieslandCampina books rise in profit and turnover

Dutch dairy combine FrieslandCampina on Thursday announced a net profit rise of 8.7% to €138m in the first half.

Turnover also rose 7.6% to €5.1bn, due to higher sales and retail prices, the company said. Most of the sales rise came in baby and toddler foods and in the dairy drinks market, particularly in Asia where FrieslandCampina makes one-quarter of its sales.
Forecasts for the rest of 2012 are uncertain because of the economic situation, although sales in developing countries will continue to increase, the company said.
FrieslandCampina is one of the world’s largest dairy producers.
