Election: new poll puts the VVD in the lead but gap narrows
Saturday 25 August 2012
The latest Ipsos Synovate opinion poll continues to put the right-wing VVD in first place, but shows the gap with the Socialist Party is narrowing.
The poll says the VVD would take 34 of the 150 seats in parliament if there was a general election tomorrow. This is one down on a week ago. By contrast, the poll gives the SP 30 seats, an increase of one.
Labour remains in third place in the Ipsos poll, with 22 seats while the anti-immigration PVV climbs one to 19.
Of the four main polls, the Ipsos poll is the only one to put the VVD in the lead. The party took 31 seats in the June 2010 general election, the SP won 15.
