Election: GroenLinks and D66 ‘humanist’, VVD score worst

Green party GroenLinks and the left-wing liberals D66 score highest when measured against humanist values, the humanist union said on Tuesday.

The right-wing liberal VVD came bottom of the list. ‘That is surprising but it does fit with the policies the party is now advocating,’ humanist union leader Ineke de Vries told Trouw.
She is referring to the party’s policies on Europe, asylum seekers and development aid, which do not chime with the union’s values of freedom, responsibility, self-determination and equality.
GroenLinks heads the list, followed by D66, the Labour party PvdA, animal rights PvdA, the ChristenUnie, the Socialist Party and the VVD.
