A 60-year-old paedophile, currently in court accused of child abuse and the possession of child pornography, spent a year pursuing teenage solo sailor Laura Dekker, the AD reports on Friday.

The man, known as Gerard W, sent Dekker dozens of emails and a faked photo of herself nude, the paper says.
Father Dick Dekker is quoted as saying he warned his daughter repeatedly about W, who has admitted being attracted to young blonde girls. Since the internet era, he has sought to contact with them via social network sites such as Hyves, he told the court.
According to the AD, W turned himself over to the police in an effort ‘to rein himself in’. He faces two years in jail, five years probation and psychiatric help.
The verdict will be announced in two weeks.

Dick Dekker told the AD Laura had been approached by more men than W and this is one of the reasons why she had a partial break-down.
Laura Dekker was 16 when she became the youngest person to sail round the world single-handed at the beginning of this year.
She had originally wanted to start the trip when she was 14 but was made a ward of court after judges said the trip was too risky and she was not properly prepared.
