PostNL does not keep letters and parcels secure enough: OptaTuesday 03 July 2012 Postal company PostNL is breaking the law on keeping letters and parcels secure, telecom watchdog Opta says on its website. An investigation carried out by the watchdog shows that locations where the post is stored until collected by delivery staff are unsecured, leaving letters and parcels at risk of being tampered with or stolen. Many locations are unsupervised, post bags are visible and accessible from the public highway and are left open because there is no way of closing them, says Opta. Keeping the post confidential is a legal requirement. Opta has issued PostNL with a number of demands and if these are not carried out, the postal company faces a fine of up to €450,000. The Netherlands no longer has formal post offices. Instead, post is collected from shops and supermarkets with a small postal service department.

I have not being using postNL for a few years now other than for little letters any package goes with a different company.PostNL are terrible they leave parcels on my doorstep in full view of the public on a busy street and when its raining.I use postal services a lot with my company and after two years of constant parcels going missing even when they are traced I gave up on them.Not to mention when you complain they treat you like a crminal and refuse to accept that yet another parcel never arrived or made it to its destination.The worse company i have ever had to deal with.They are useless. I had send the package with track&trace, and after sending PostNL some forms and the reciepts for the items inside, I got the insurance money. The people I spoke to on the phone were polite and helpful. In the 5 years I've been here, I think PostNL has excellent service. better than the French LaPoste that I'm so used to.
