Olympics: Marianne Vos gives Holland first gold

Cyclist Marianne Vos gave the Netherlands its first gold medal at the Olympics with a win in the 140-kilometre women’s road race on Sunday.

Vos made her break from the peloton 47 kilometres into the race, along with the Brit Elizabeth Armistead, the Russian Olga Zabelinskaya and the American Shelley Olds.
Olds faded, leaving the other three to fight it out, with Vos superior in the final sprint along the Mall in London.
She was congratulated at the finish by prince Willem-Alexander who was watching the race with his wife Máxima and their three daughters. The prince gave Vos two kisses and a hug.
Armistead took silver and Zabelinskaya gold.
