Dutch sprinters score gold and silver at European championships

The Dutch men’s 4x100m relay team took the gold medal at the European championships in Helskinki on Sunday, in a new national record time of 38.34.



Earlier in the day, the women’s 4x100m team took silver, also setting a new Dutch record of 42.80 seconds. Germany took gold and Poland the bronze medal.

On Saturday, sprinters Churandy Martina and Patrick van Luijk took gold and silver in the 200m. Martina completed the distance in 20.42 seconds, becoming the first Dutch national to take a European athletics title since Bram Som in the 800 metres six years ago.
