Anti-immigration PVV party leader Geert Wilders is to call a ‘united meeting’ of both houses of parliament to discuss the ratification of the European rescue fund, the ESM.
The ESM fund will bail out weaker EU member countries and the Netherlands will contribute €4.5bn, with a further €35bn in guarantees.
Wilders opposes the fund because it hands over too much power to Brussels. For this reason, he thinks it should not have been voted through by a caretaker government but should have waited until after the election on September 11.
The party leader has read the rules governing a ‘united meeting’, says the Volkskrant. A meeting can be called if eleven members of both houses of parliament ask for one. Wilders has the required number of requests.
