Travel agents need to improve, say experts

Travel agents need to invest more in their business and introduce improvements to their service if they are to cope with the falling number of people going on holiday, economists from the ING bank warn on Monday.

The ING economists forecast that low economic growth, increasing unemployment and government cuts will see a dramatic decrease in the number of people taking a holiday. This will lead to a halving of the number of travel agencies by 2020.
The majority of holiidaymakers will also be booking online or through social media and travel agencies will have to improve their training and IT systems, news agency ANP quotes the economists as saying.
Agencies will also have to offer more services at holiday destinations and more help to holidaymakers who get in to trouble.
