The Netherlands beats Iran to take world robot football title

The Netherlands may have crashed out of the Euro 2012 football championships for humans, but a team from Eindhoven University on Sunday won the world robot football title in Mexico.

The Eindhoven robotics students beat a team from Iranian university MRL 4-1 on Sunday to take the 2012 Robocup. Eindhoven has taken part in the competition since 2005 and has come second four times.
‘We have shown that Eindhoven is among the best in the world when it comes to robotics,’ team leader Robin Soetens told news agency ANP.
The 2013 Robocup will take place in Eindhoven when teams from 40 countries are expected to take part.
