Satnav-maker TomTom provides data to Apple

Satellite navigation-maker TomTom will provide information for the new navigation maps for Apple’s iPhone and iPad, it was announced on Monday evening during a presentation of the renewed iOS6 drive.

The move to TomTom follows Apple’s decision to stop using Google’s maps later this year. The Dutch company will provide traffic news about jams and road works, as it does now for its HD Traffic service.
The news comes at a time when TomTom is facing shrinking sales as consumers switch to inbuilt systems.
