A turtle only found in the Gulf of Mexico which washed up on a Dutch beach at the end of last year is to be released into the wild again.
The US government has given the green light for the turtle to be sent back to America, where it will be released, news agency ANP said. The Sea Life centre in Scheveningen has now applied for a formal export licence for the turtle, which has been named Flip.
The Kemps Ridley is the smallest type of sea turtle and one of the most threatened species in the world. It was found on the beach at Monster, just south of The Hague in December.
