No ‘united meeting’ for Wilders

Anti-immigration PVV party leader Geert Wilders was denied his request for a ‘united meeting’ of both houses of parliament on Thursday.

Wilders asked for the meeting to discuss the ratification of the European rescue fund, the ESM. He opposes the fund and said it should not have been voted through by a caretaker government.
For this reason, he wanted parliament and the senate to come together to debate the subject. He even had the eleven members needed to call such a meeting.
However, the senate chairman turned him down, say press reports. ‘A united meeting can only be called to discuss matters in the constitution, such as a royal marriage, the appointment of a regent or a declaration of war,’ he said.
