More foreign tourists set to hit Holland

An increase in German and Belgian visitors will help boost the number of foreign summer holidaymakers in the Netherlands by 50,000 to 2.6 million this year, the national tourist board said on Wednesday.

The economic crisis means more people opt to spend their main holiday closer to home, the tourist board said.
In total, 9.8 million Dutch people will holiday either at home or abroad this year, 200,000 down on last year.
The schools in the south of the country break up on Friday, schools in central parts close in two weeks and schools in the north on July 21.
