Health minister wants action on home care wastage

Health minister Edith Schippers on Monday launched a campaign to reduce wastage in the home help sector, after a report showed most patients have an average of €100-worth of medicine and other medical supplies unused at home.

In particular, the minister wants pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies to switch to smaller packages with fewer items.
In addition, she plans to look into how home nurses can take the lead and travel from house to house with their own supplies of medicine and bandages.
