Dutchman sells most expensive car ever, a Ferrari 250 GTO

A Dutch millionaire has sold a Ferrari 250 GTO to an American businessman for €35m, the highest price ever paid for a car, Nos television reports.

Eric Heerema, who made his fortune from investments, now produces wine in Britain and bought the car 10 years ago for €8.5m. It is one of just 39 Ferrari 2050 GTOs ever made.

The broadcaster says the green sports car was made for British racing driver Stirling Moss, who never actually drove it. Shortly after the car was completed in 1962, Moss had a near fatal accident and ended his racing career.
According to the Huffington Post, the car is one of eight classic Ferraris to change hands over the last six week for a ‘staggering total’ of $150m.
