Dutch Muslim party folds

The Dutch Muslim Party (NMP) has folded because ‘the time is not ripe for a Muslim party in parliament’, news agency ANP reports.

The party was founded in 2007 by two Dutch converts to Islam. The NMP failed to book any electoral success, winning no seats in the local elections in 2010. In Rotterdam, for example, it took just 0.5% of the vote.
