Chinese investors to develop former Emmen zoo site

A group of Chinese investors have plans to develop a ‘Chinese cultural park’ on the old site of Emmen zoo, website nu.nl reports on Tuesday.

The investors and Emmen city council will sign a preliminary agreement for the development this week, the council said.
‘The plan is not to develop a Chinatown for Emmen,’ a council spokesman said, without going into details.
The exact nature of the plan is still ‘unknown’ but will include temples and pagodas, the website said.
The zoo is moving from the town centre to a new location on the outskirts in three years time.
