Bert van Marwijk quits as Dutch football coach
Thursday 28 June 2012
Bert van Marwijk is standing down as coach of the Dutch national football team following the team's poor performance at the Euro 2012 championships.
The announcement was made 10 days after Oranje crashed out of the competition after failing to win a single point at the group stage.
'Van Marwijk performed extremely well in taking the Netherlands to the final of the World Cup and the top place in the Fifa rankings,' the Dutch football association KNVB said in a statement. 'It is disappointing to say goodbye earlier than planned but we have to be realistic.'
Who should take over from Van Marwijk? Have your say using the comment form below.

By nd | 28 June 2012 8:41 AMI expected they'd fire him. Oh well. It wasn't his fault the Dutch did poorly in Euro2012. Seems like the players were still blaming each other for the World Cup loss.
