Police arrest 19-year-old in jewelry shop murder case

Police in The Hague on Wednesday arrested one of two 19-year-old youths wanted in connection with the murder of a jewelry shop owner last week.


Ruud Stratmann, 47, was killed during a robbery at his shop in the city last Wednesday. Police released security camera footage of the incident showing the two suspects which led to over 50 tip-offs.
One man, Ziya Borukcu, was picked up shortly before midnight, news agency ANP said on Wednesday. At least 35 police officers were involved in the arrest. According to Nos television, Borukcu’s mother had made an appeal for her son to turn himself in.
The second man, Sandro Grigolia, may have fled to Belgium and the Belgian authorities have been alerted.
