Minimum wage for 15-year-olds rises four centsFriday 25 May 2012 The minimum wage for 15-year-olds doing holiday jobs will go up four cents this year to €2.52 per hour, the social affairs ministry has decided. Young teenagers can take a holiday job from the age of 13, but there is no minimum wage for 13 and 14-year-olds. Youngsters may work a maximum seven hours a day and no more than five days in a row. They are also barred from working with machinery and without adult supervision. © DutchNews.nl
It must have been a tough decision. Respect. By Jakub | May 25, 2012 1:37 PM that's more than half a percent. very generous! By dork | May 25, 2012 5:02 PM wow thats a low wage. better call them slave workers then and not young workers. The term fits much better with the reality. By Sarah | May 25, 2012 5:22 PM That is slave wages! I made more when I was 15 and that was in 1974! Why bother? By M | May 27, 2012 3:55 AM Hmm.. is that 1,40pw rise going to be taxed? By Thre visitor | May 27, 2012 9:06 AM Its more money than they will earn sitting on their buttocks indoors all summer.>> By Simon Keys | May 29, 2012 12:47 PM @Simon: Whatever happened to just being a KID? Why do we force this lust for work onto our CHILDREN? Can't kids just be kids anymore without having to stress out about money at such a young age? To insult a child because they would rather have a proper summer hanging out with their friends, as children are supposed to have, rather than become a slave to corporate society, is unjust. This obsession with work has got to stop. By Stupid | May 29, 2012 1:13 PM Ageism! By Ames | May 30, 2012 7:07 AM
