Industrial output falls slightly

Tuesday 01 May 2012

Industrial output fell slightly in April, according to the monthly Dutch purchasing managers index NEVI.

The reason was the considerable drop in the number of new orders from within the country, says the NEVI. This led to a drop in output and in job opportunities.

Orders from abroad increased slightly but manufacturers are still describing the economic system as 'problematic', says the report.

The situation is exacerbated by the rising price of energy and raw materials, says the NEVI.
