Beachgoers urged to take the train

Dutch Rail has put on extra trains on Monday to cope with the expected large numbers of people heading for the country’s beaches.

In particular, there will be twice as many trains between Haarlem and the seaside resort of Zandvoort as on a normal day.
Both the police and motoring organisations have urged beachgoers to use public transport in order to avoid traffic jams and parking chaos at busy resorts.
On Sunday roads to the coast seized up totally in some places.
Although the weather is set to remain sunny on Tuesday it will be cooler than Monday, when temperatures are set to reach up to 27 Celsius inland.
